Johnny and the Dead

An entertaining family film full of excitement, humour and fantasy based on Terry Pratchett’s best-selling novel about a young boy’s supernatural adventure. Only Johnny can see the Dead who live in a run-down Victorian cemetery he walks through on his way to school. On the day he learns the cemetery is to be sold and torn down by unscrupulous property developers, the Dead appeal to him to save their home. Johnny mounts a homemade campaign utilising local newspaper archives and a public meeting. Eventually thugs are confronted just as the Dead decide they don’t need the cemetery anymore. The films stars Brian Blessed, George Baker and Jane Lapotaire. Johnny and the Dead premiered on ITV before its DVD release by Warner Home Video.
